1 Simple Trick to Conquer Overthinking, Banish Fear, and Take Bold Steps Toward Your Goals.

Everyone struggles with overthinking.

Personally, I have for years. It was the same old story; I would write down a goal and my mind would quickly come up with a list of all the reasons why it would be difficult to achieve.

But what changed for me was the realisation that hesitation kills momentum. As soon as that clicked, I started to understand that overcoming overthinking wasn’t that hard—I was just doing the wrong thing.

Here’s what I should have done instead:

Count Backwards From 5 to 1.

It sounds too simple but there is science behind this. When you get that urge to take action, count backwards from 5 to 1. This activates the prefrontal cortex and briefly distracts your brain from offering up the usual limiting beliefs. When you reach the number 1 get up and MOVE. This creates momentum and turns taking action into a habit. (For more information on this technique read  The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins).
